News from the Natural World: If you believe God created everything then there is a new 8th sin that needs to be immediately added to the list.
Humans are really good at inventing religions. They’ve been doing it since the dawn of time. Pretty much every human civilisation has invented Gods. The Aztecs, Inca, Mayans, Greeks, Romans etc in fact you name a civilisation. They invented their very own gods. These humans always seem to forget that it seems a rather large coincidence that humans keep doing this and instead argue over who is right. After all, this is the most important thing to the human. They’d rather be ignorant idiots than wrong about whose God was the best.
But one group wanted to be right more than any other group. The dreaded Christians. The Christians not only wanted to be right but they would slaughter anyone who disagreed with them. Witches burnt at the stake and drowned in rivers. Holy wars and crusades waged in the deserts. Missionaries spreading bullshit and disease across the Americas, Africa and Australasia. They really knew they were right and they killed most people who disagreed. But the key part of Christianity revolved around building a toxic swamp of guilt that trapped its believers in an endless cycle of shame. Done something naughty? Tell the priest. Committed a crime, tell the priest. What would this priest do with it? Hold the secret over your head and use it to get away with molesting children. Simple.
If You Believe God Created Everything
Christians and their priests called these things Sins. They invented 7 of them. The seven deadly sins, also known as the capital vices, or cardinal sins, formed a nice group of vices within Christian teachings. According to the standard list, they are pride, greed, wrath, envy, lust, gluttony and sloth. However, they are not mentioned in the Bible. This point is crucial. Nowhere are these 7 sins mentioned as sins in the bible. Not once. They were invented by humans to try to control human nature and abuse it for their own personal benefit. But they missed the most important and only true sin of them all. Extinction.
The whole structure of Christianity revolves around the fact that Christians believe God created everything. Every single species of animal on the planet. It’s right there in the Bible. Not only that, but he did it in 7 days! But if Christians really believed this then surely any of those species going extinct at the hands of man is truly the greatest crime one can commit against God? It’s like taking a colossal death rubber to his finest creations. How do they know that God wasn’t really chuffed with the Dodo? Or had a proper soft spot for Thylacines? If they really believed in the creation myth then surely Extinction is the only sin there is?
