The human agency called NASA is launching a mission to study an asteroid worth more than $10,000 quadrillion. It is said to contain so much precious metal that everyone on Earth would be a billionaire if its precious cargo was divided among mankind. Psyche 16 – first spotted back in March 1852 – is a 124 mile-wide space rock that will be the primary focus of NASA’s project, which is set to launch in August 2022. The spacecraft would arrive at the asteroid four years later in early 2026. The asteroid is set to arrive on earth in 2028.

However, there is one slight downside to the giant billionaire creating an asteroid. Its collision course is set directly for earth. Whilst its official touchdown and moment of impact would at that second make every human on earth a billionaire. It would also have the rather nasty effect of creating a collision so monstrous that it would wipe the human race off the planet. We set off to interview the human conducting the study and asked him why he was excited about the asteroid;

“Well yes but that’s pretty much capitalism in a microcosm really. This comet just cuts out a century or so. Capitalism is really about the greatest number of people getting the greatest amount of wealth at the detriment of the natural world and the species which it inhabits. The comet is going to do us all a massive favour. It was going to take years for us to achieve billionaire status and many years to finally finish off nature and the animal kingdom. This just speeds it up a bit. We’ll be billionaires in the blink of an eye.”

We were astounded “But what’s the point of being billionaires if you’re wiped out by the asteroid?”
