News from the Natural World: At the shining pinnacle of development humans voluntarily choose to devolve back into jibbering apes. Humans have overcome a lot. They got past the plagues, the world wars, invented penicillin, the internet and discovered the power of renewable energy. Technological advancement had reached a zenith like never before. The invention of the internet had catapulted humans into a new era of hope and possibility. Many argued it was the shining pinnacle of achievement of any species. In addition, they even managed to get someone on the moon. Incredible! What did they do at this shining pinnacle? Use their collective knowledge and global society for the betterment of all? Reduce suffering, poverty and increase education? Explore space and eliminate war? No, they invented Instagram and TikTok and took photos and videos of them shaking their asses in the are and pouting. This collective selfie induced vanity has been met with derision in the animal kingdom. So much so, that The Platypus was forced to declare that the human race had turned into Jibbering Apes.

The Jibbering Apes have hit back though and they frankly were very angry that we had argued that humans had devolved. The Jibbering Apes had this to say; “Look we don’t mind the odd jape Platypus. We can poke fun at ourselves. We also know you’ve got a satirical news team to run so have to play loose and fast with the truth. But to say that we Jibbering Apes have anything in common with those mindless humans of the 21st century is crossing the line. They’re morons. One look at those swiping narcissists posting photos of themselves in yoga pants with captions about Black Lives Matter is enough to know we’re dealing with jibbering monkeys, not us more intelligent apes. These humans don’t realise how disingenuous it is to use tragedy to post photos of themselves for validation from strangers.”
