The Platypus aims to change the way you see the natural world through satire, comedy, parody, spoof and tireless gonzo journalism. We think it’s time to see the world from the point of view of the animal kingdom. It’s time for humans to read, laugh, think and then act. The Platypus will show you the true Voice of Nature.

The Platypus was first believed to be a hoax when discovered by British scientists in the late 18th century. The first specimen was sent back from its very own native Australia and Zoologist George Shaw wrote; “It naturally excites the idea of some deceptive preparation by artificial means”.
This egg-laying, duck-billed marsupial with poisonous barbs and a beak surely couldn’t be real. He further proclaimed “Of all the Mammalia yet known it seems the most extraordinary in its conformation; exhibiting the perfect resemblance of the beak of a Duck engrafted on the head of a quadruped.” Indeed the Platypus was extraordinary in that it held up a perfect mirror to human stupidity. Not only was it real but also abundant. It stood in complete defiance of humanity’s ignorance towards the beauty, variety, and wonder of nature.
Hear the ‘Voice of Nature’
Fast forward to the 21st Century and The Platypus has watched on as earth has been ravaged by humans. Its native Australia rages on fire and its fellow animal and plant species are suffering under a sixth extinction. But fear not! The Platypus has risen and like any good activist has entered the world of online journalism. This is in a bid to showcase the natural world in a different light and become the voice of nature. We are prepared to go where no other journalist will go. Finally, The Platypus stands on the precipice ready to dive into the dark heart of humanity. We will uncover The Truth about what is happening to our beautiful blue planet.

The Platypus will use its platform to offer stories and news affecting the environment and animal kingdom. Our press team also consists of fellow correspondents Okapi, Iguanodon, The Jackalope, Mokele-Mbembe, and El Chupacabra.
